I Officiated A Lesbian Wedding This Weekend!

This past weekend I officiated my friend Lorena and Jennifer's commitment ceremony. It was not legally recognized by the state, but was a wonderful celebration of their love for each other. Julien helped in the ceremony as well. He was the chocolate bearer, to help with the chocolate mixing ceremony, a tasty twist to the sand mixing ceremony.

Here Julien is with my boyfriend Brent. They are best friends.

Thanks Mom for the colorful Indian threads, they worked great for the ceremony.

It was a beautiful ceremony. The sun even came out just as they exchanged rings.

Mutti, your Grandmother

Hare Krishna!

This morning i received a sad letter from Andreas. I am pasting it here. It basically sais that mutti has reached her final days. She is not sick, but is suffering the inevedable old age that we all some day have to face. Mutti is no longer accepting any food and is shaking all over her body. Mutti is now 84 years old.

Hi,

Picture time

Ok, this is my first blog posting, and I don't know what to write, so I'm just gonna post a bunch of pictures with captions.

These are the deities here in Kolkata. It's an HDR shot, so there's less shadowing.

The ghost car......

This was the train conditions on my way to Kolkata, I had to give up my plans on getting off at the stop that had the metro station, and get off at the last one instead.

This is a composite image of about 20 lightning pictures that I took. I think it looks rather impressive myself.

This is the leaning tower of Kolkata. if you look closely, you'll notice that the building on the opposite side of the street (the red one) is leaning slightly in the other direction.

The majestic hawk. I rather like the guy, but the feeling is not mutual.
That's all for right now.

Twins 6-8 months snapshots

Hi everyone! The twins are 8 months old! Can you believe it?  They are amazing and growing every day and learning so much!
Just a few recent milestones:
- They are both crawling all over the place. Sascha knows the edge of the bed and stops but we still have to watch Simon carefully cause he will crawl right off the edge.
- Both of them can pull themselves to standing, Sascha can drop back down and move around as she pleases. Simon sort of stays there and doesn't not how to get back down yet but he is almost there.
- Simon has his first tooth! It is the bottom right front and it is not fully white and visible but you can feel it!
- Sascha started saying "ma ma" but not clear if she is referring to me or not. She also says "da da" and they both make lots and lots of babbling noises with now at least 2 consonant sounds.
- Sascha "clicks" her tongue. A great language exerciser.
- They are eating some "finger food" now - cheerios (just a couple to keep them occupied) and teething cookies.

I don't have much time these days to go through all the photos we take daily but I did grab some while importing that are just too cute to not share. Enjoy!

My health crises

Jay Sri Sri Narasimhadeva!
Hare Krishna!
By now every one must have heard of my recent health crises.
Due to continued infections and pain in the belly, probably due to several factors, including my one cell friends the Entamoeba and E. Histolytica, my appendix got so severely inflamed, that I was strongly advised to have it surgically removed. While getting a second opinion to make sure that Appendicitis was really the diagnosis, it was discovered that not only the appendix but also the gall bladder was inflamed with multiple stones showing up in the Ultrasound picture.
Another severe health problem I was dealing with, was a infected tooth, which either needed to be extracted or "put to sleep". Due to the severe pain, I chosed to take care of the tooth first. While I was being treated in the torcher chamber by Dr Gandhi, I asked her if she knew some one whom I could see about my abdominal problems. She referred me to a friend of hers at the Woodland Hospital, which was right next to the zoo in Kolkata. Dr. Sadique told me to go down to see his secretary and get admitted right away. I told him that none of my family members were with me and I would prefer to wait until my son Japa could be with me. He agreed and I had to call Japa on Emergency duty to Kolkata.
As much as every one may think that Japa is a sleepy head, he immediately sprang into action and packed not only his but also my bag and was off on the next train to Kolkata.
While waiting for Japa I paid a visit to the 3 fat Elephants they have at the Kolkata zoo. They looked so sad to me locked up in that little place with no shade and hardly a few meters to walk up and down. I prayed to Krishna to help them and make me better so that I can help more Elephants soon.
The next morning I was admitted into the ward of the Woodland hospital and prepared for the operation the next morning.
The whole procedure was done by a so called "keyhole" operation. They removed both, my appendix and my gall bladder. When I woke up from the anesthesia, Japa was right beside me holding my hand "hi mom!" he said. I wouldn't know how I could have done it without Japa.
After 2 days resting, I was discharged from the Hospital. Unfortunately the same day I came down with a fever which never seamed to wanting to end. Inspite of the fever and severe belly pain, after a few days we returned to Mayapur. The Pujari heard that I was not well and immediately preformed a special Puja in my favor to Lord Narasimhadeva. You want to believe it or not, but the same afternoon my pain and fever whent away! Sri Sri Narasimhadeva ki Jay! The Lord is so powerful.
However I am still struggling with the E.H. Amoebaiasis. Unfortunately the only Allopathic medicine against these cysts are on the List of no no drugs that are bad for porphyria.
Now i am taking only liquid diet and Sat-Isabgol (Psyllium Husks). I am also taking some B-vitamins to try to get my strength back.
OK, this is all for now. I hope not to have bored you too much. There should be some pictures of the organs in an E-mail coming.
Love,
Mama
